Mi nombre es Carmen Seijas soy una pintora e ilustradora de Galicia :)
He creado La Sombra Studio como espacio en el que compartir todas las cosas que se me ocurre crear.
Por si quieres saber algo mas sobre mi experiencia como artista os comparto aquí un pequeño texto en el que condenso los primeros 12 años de mi carrera.
También podéis leer mi Diario en el que comparto reflexiones sobre creatividad, arte, procesos, espiritualidad, pensamiento y cosas así :)

My name is Carmen Seijas, I am a painter and illustrator from Galicia :)
I have created La Sombra Studio as a space in which to share all the things that occur to me to create.

Pintora e ilustradora nacida en Betanzos, Galicia. La temática de su obra es intimista, un viaje a través de la evolución de la psique y la espiritualidad reflexionando sobre el entendimiento y el desarrollo del insconsciente y las emociones a través de la exploración de la fantasia, el mito y los ciclos presentes en la naturaleza.
Formalmente comienza su práctica artística en la Fundación CIEC a cargo de Omar Kessel. El 2010 se licencia en Bellas Artes en al Universidad de Vigo, habiendo cursado una beca Erasmus en 2008 en Bélgica (Hogeschool Sint-Lukas) y posteriormente en 2009 se traslada a Barcelona con las becas Seneca- Sicue para cursar el ultimo año de la licenciatura. Entre 2011 y 2013 cursa un Máster en Investigación y Producción Artística en la UB y realiza una estancia de practicas como Documentadora e Investigadora en el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Barcelona (MACBA).
Entre los años 2010 y 2017 en Barcelona colabora como artista en festivales como Overtype at Offmatica Sonar y en OFF Barcelona; en exposiciones colectivas como New Era Introducing and EMEA Gallery touren Londres, Berlin, Barcelona, Milan, Paris, Cape Town y Dubai; Strange Exchangeen Upper Playground en FIFTY24PDX, Portland; Are you the fire or just another flame? Mutt Barcelona; entre otras. También en esos años colabora con el colectivo Reskate en varias de sus exposiciones a lo largo de la península y en Europa; participa en la feria de Arte Contemporáneo SWAB, y crea varias exposiciones individuales, The Space is the Place ,totalmente auto gestionada en Corretger 5 en Barcelona; Calypso en el emblemático bar 33|45 en el barrio del Raval y Muerte en vida y otras relatos cortos en la galería Miscelánea también en Barcelona.
En 2018 obtuvo una residencia artística en el Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Fabra i Coats con el proyecto El Gran Tapiz.
Después de un hiatus expositivo de varios años en Junio de 2023 realizó su primera exposición en el Estudio Sarao en Ferrol, esta exposición se ha llamado Altar y además de ser presentada en Ferrol también ha formado parte del calendario expositivo de 2024 en la galería Besibe en Santiago de Compostela y en Espazo Vaina en Betanzos.
Durante este tiempo de hiatus expositivo se centro en la exploración de la vida como artista independiente, en 2015 abrió su primera tienda online en la que vendería su obra, desde ese momento ha experimentado con textiles, madera, cerámica, joyería y grabado. También en ese tiempo colaboró con gran variedad de marcas independientes como Aniela Parys, GreyStreet Barcelona, Aparttogether Socks, Suichi 4Fun, While Odin Sleeps, Julia Hens, Wisdom Apothecary, Tamara Driessen, Cashemere Cactus, Alizari, etc.
En 2021 creo un programa de Mentorias Creativas en las que ha colaborado con artistas y proyectos tratando temas como bloqueos creativos, internalización del capitalismo y productivismo, re-conexión con el trabajo como practica sanadora, etc. Además de las Mentorias este proyecto ha evolucionado en forma de talleres grupales en los que explorar, compartir y expandir la conexión entre emocionalidad y creación.
Ha realizado murales para o Fondo Galego, el festival Kaldarte, Concello de Curtis, Green Peace y Open Walls Barcelona entre otros.
Su trabajo ha sido publicado en revistas como Imperial College London, Playground Magazine, Revista Mirall, Metal Magazine, Cosmopolitan, Vein Magazine y ha colaborado con editoriales como Penguin Random House.
